We Are One

Psychologist Thomas Lewis talks about limbic resonance, the "symphony of mutual exchange and internal adaptation whereby two mammals become attuned to each other's inner states." Buddhists believe that we are all one consciousness, interconnected and interdependent. As a Pagan, my life is intricately tied to the cycles of the sun, moon, earth, and seasons. Today, practice interconnectedness with all beings. Pause and observe adults, children, and animals. Cultivate compassion. Look respectfully at them, inhale, and draw their energy toward you. Exhale and send acceptance back to them. Inhale and feel their pain, exhaustion, joy, and determination. Exhale and send your serenity, excitement, hope, and resolve. Inhale and exhale and know you are connected. If someone turns and meets your eyes, smile and acknowledge the connection. Think these words as you breathe in and out:

"Breathe in: We are
Breathe out: one.
We are one."
